Starting in 2007, The Greater Lakes Association of REALTORS
gives four $500 Scholarships to High School Seniors in the Greater
Lakes Association of REALTORS jurisdiction. The
Greater Lakes Association of REALTORS® is a non-profit
organization that sees the future of our country lies within our
young people. Home ownership is an opportunity for all Americans
and REALTORS® are the key. REALTORS® pride themselves in
"protecting the private property rights" of the
people of the United States.

In 2000, our two scholarships were changed to and became
scholarships in memory of two dedicated Directors of the Greater
Lakes Association of REALTORS. Bonnie
Jean Gries and Steve Jacobs were great leaders and thinkers, and
helped mold the Association with the concerns of all 400 members.
Bonnie & Steve will always be remembered by the Board
of Directors as the ones with the smiles and positive
leaders.
They will truly missed by the Membership and the Board of
Directors.
The Bonnie Jean's Memorial
Scholarship is in memory of Bonnie Jean Gries. Bonnie
Jean Gries was a REALTOR® member for more than 10 years, founding
her own company, Bonnie Jean's Realty in Crosslake in 1983. In
1989, Bonnie served on the Greater Lakes Association of REALTORS
Board of Directors.

Steve Jacobs Memorial Scholarship is in memory of Steve
Jacobs. Steve Jacobs was a REALTOR® member for 12 years,
founding his own company, Jacobs Realty in Crosby in 1989.
In 1997, Steve served on the Greater Lakes Association of
REALTORS Board of Directors.

In 2007, the Board
of Directors created four (4) scholarships of $500 each in
memory of all REALTOR Members of the Greater Lakes Association
of REALTORS.

The Minnesota REALTOR Foundation Scholarship
This foundation was dissolved in 2007.
The
Minnesota Association of REALTORS Foundation did grant ten $1,000
scholarships to High School Seniors planning to attend a college,
university, technical or community college. The scholarships are
awarded to High School Seniors whose parents or grandparents are
active MAR members. Each Region has one selection per year (with
an additional award to Regions 7 & 8).
